You would want to compare RX VEGA 56 on efficiency mode (~150W power limit for GPU core section) with GTX 1070. In practice the GTX 1070 is about +50% vs RX 580. $250 vs $350 (so about $100 difference) - the Nvidia card, I don't know if I can talk the seller down so I thought I'd go with a $100, assumed, difference.

I know they are not in the 'same league' - the GTX 1070 outperforms it but actually, the RX 580 looks like it holds its own pretty well.
